Azithromycin and contagion

While away from home on business I had one night of repeated unprotected sex with a woman I had just met and 3 days later I developed some mild symptoms of Chlamydia. Today, the 4th day after the encounter, I went to the clinic, described my symptoms, and was treated with one dose of 2g azithromycin (8 x 250mg) in case of gonorrhea as well, since I can't really wait for my test results to come back before I get treatment.
I was away for a while and my wife is ready to jump me.  There's only so long I can hold her off without causing suspicion. My question is - is it really a week before I am no longer contagious? There's no way she'll wait that long.  Thanks for your help.

I was afraid of that.  The only place I had seen otherwise was on this board as per Dr HHH.

I was hoping that the huge dose they gave me would speed things up a little since the normal dose is half that.

It really is a week.

Any sooner, and you might infect your wife.
