I went to see my GP yesterday as I had red patches on the tip of my penis. This was 2 days after I received a blow job from a female escort without a condom. The GP examined me and she said it looks like Balanitis. Apparently this is not a sexually transmitted disease but just a irritation or redness of the penis. I said to the doctor that I'm sure I've had red patches like this on my penis before but they've gone away within a day or two. I got a test for Chlamydia & Gonorrhea to be on the safe side though and results will come back to me in a week or so.
Does anybody know much about Balanitis? I am not experiencing any discomfort when urinating etc.
This is not a STD and this is an STD forum... You should trust your doctor and act on his advise... This is a bacterial infection and antibiotics are used to treat bacterial infections, while topical antifungals such as clotrimazole can combat balanitis caused by Candida... Ointments or creams may be used to ease skin irritation... No matter what the cause, it is important to thoroughly clean the penis on a daily basis in order to alleviate symptoms. If the condition keeps occurring, or if the inflammation is interfering with urination, circumcision may be advised...
If you are concerned, and since you've had this before, ask your doctor for a type specific IgG blood test to find out if you even have herpes. That's the only other thing it might be, and its not sounding like it at all.
