Dr,
I know this question may sound ridiculous but I am recovering from trauma due to past std exposures (found out last girlfriends ex has hep c, i am negative) and am concerned about the possibilities of spreading blood diseases such as hiv and hep b&c from sharing of a cup. One of my coworkers who last had an undiagnosed strange malarialike illness in asia last winter managed to accidently cut her upperlip and with a fork to the point where there may have been bleeding and there was definitely a scab for a couple of days (according to other coworkers). A few days later, we shared a teacup and then someone jokingly asked how her fork scar was doing. I didn't notice anything strange in passing but if there was a small wound I didn't notice, is there any chance she could have spread the aforementioned illnesse? She definitely wasn't bleeding and was probably healed, but I wasn't asking her for an up close lip exam. I also believe the cut was above the part of her lips that would actually touch the cup. My lips were very mildly chapped at the time. Can blood diseases such as hepatitis b/c and hiv enter through lips?
