6 months later I had pretty much forgotten about the bumps because they weren't hurting and were hard to see unless I bent down and looked at my right inner thigh. A few days ago I found another 3 bumps making for a total of 6 or 7. All are painless and a few are sligtly red around the edges. My doctor perscribed me the same medication when I went to see him again a few days ago and told me not to worry. He said it could be cysts or mabye inflamed hair follicules. He also mentioned that he saw some blood work I had done in 2007 had a high white blood cell count and he wanted to test me again when I get done with the Doxycycline. He sturck me as being kind of at a loss for what this could be. He said he's treated over 100 cases of HPV and that this didn't look like anything he'd seen before. Because the bumps are all on my inner right thigh and none are on my penis and scrotem, he pretty much has ruled out the possiblity of it being HPV. And because the bumps have stayed the same size and not gone away in 6 months, he ruled out herpes. He didn't really give me a solid answer or idea of what it could be, and I left his office feeling as uneasy as when I entered it.
My question is this, do you think it's worth me seeing a dermatologist to try to figure out what these are? At this point I'm sick and tired of being worried I might have something I could spread to others and want a solid answer as to weather I'm contagious or not. Should I continue to listen to my doctor or seek advice from a specialist?
herpes will not stick around this long in the manner you've described.
