Burning in tip of men's penis

by JoJo2345, Jun 06, 2008 01:37PM
My boyfriend tells me now that he has a burning in the tip of his penis (about 2 inches in) and he has had it for some time. He was taking antibiotics much earlier to get rid of it (several months ago) but it is still there....it does not hurt when he urinates, he has no red spots on the inside tip or the outer part of the penis - he has no discharge - he has no testicle swelling or abdominal pain or swelling - nothing but the burning 2 inches inside the penis.....is this a sexually transmitted disease? a urinary tract infection and could a U.T.I even last this many months (4 maybe 5 or maybe even 6)? or could this be much more serious?.......you don't think this can make him infertile? Can you find out if he has a sexually transmitted disease through a blood test?
Thanks, JoJo

What antibiotics was he taking? There wouldn't necessarily need to be a discharge or pain on urination for a chlamydia infection to be present but if there is pain in general this would almost certainly be made worse during urination. I think he should go and get a full STD screen, chlamydia and gonorrhoea are tested by a swab and a urine sample. Syphillis and HIV are the ones that require a blood sample but there is absolutely no suggestion he has either of these. Some UTIs can be very persistent it just depends on what is causing it and the antibiotic that is prescribed to treat it.
