I READ ON ONE OF THE POST ABOUT PERSISTENCE URETHRITIS, THAT ONE OF DOCTOR'.S STATED THAT ONE TREATMENT REGINMENT  INCLUDE USING  OF( FLAGYL 1GM) PLUS ERYTHROMYCIN   ON OTHER'S WEBSITES I READ IT STATED,  THE USE OF  FLAGYL 2GM ONE SINGLE DOSE: ALSO I READ ON DIFFERENT POST THAT DOXYCYCLINE IS STANDARD TREATMENT  FOR CHLAMYDIA WHICH SOMETIME CAN FAIL, MY QUESTION IS IF TRICH ISN'T ONE OF  REASON FOR THIS FAILURE THEIRFORE LEAVING FLAGYL OUT OF THE PICTURE,  COULD THE FAIL RATE BE  DUE TO DURATION  OF TREATMENT USING DOXY,   FROM (100MGX2) 7 DAYS MAYBE  UP TO 14  DAYS  OR LONGER TREATMENT  CYCLE ,THE REASON I ASKING BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE DON'T LIKE USE OF SO  MANY DIFFERENT ANTBOTICS , SORRY, TO  BE SO LONG WINDED : FLAGYL /DOXY.  WHATS THE REAL STORY???????

Flagyl covers the fungal side of things.  Doxy covers the bacterial side of it.  Some providers do recommend a longer course of oral antibiotics when urethritis doesn't respond to typical doses.  Azithromycin covers mycloplasma.  Sometimes it takes some trial and error to figure out what is the cause and treat it properly.  I'm sure it's very frustrating but it's best to start out with the more standard, shorter course doses and then if symptoms return, then go for the longer course of treatment. most folks benefit from the shorter course.
