Can Tetracycline prescribed for Acne cure Chlamydia and Gonnorhea

Hi, the title pretty much says it all.

Dermatologists will sometimes prescribe Oral Tetracycline and Topical Tetracycline for Acne.  Can either of these cure Chlamydia and Gonnorhea?

Thanks.

Oops sorry - I totally missed the topical part.  :(  You are right, though.

Hi

I did some research and NO Topical Tetracycline (the watery solution you would roll on your face for acne) will definetely not cure gono or chlamydia.  I think that was silly of me to ask about the topical.  And the oral is like you say not the preferred treatment.

Maybe, but its not a preferred treatment.

However, there is a possibility of it preventing an infection.

Testing will be tricky as being on antibiotics can inhibit the growth of bacteria just enough to preclude an accurate test.  If you want to test, then go off the antibiotics, and test 2 weeks later.
