Canker Sores in Mouth & Oral Sex

Are canker sores in the mouth related to herpes?  What if you have cancer sores in your mouth and you perform oral sex on your boyfriend?

Agree with Grace. You can google it too. Cankers are not cold sores. They are frequently confused with herpes but they are not infectious. They are stomatitis and not viral. I have them and have never given them to anyone. EB

Thanks for answering.   I know they say they aren't caused by herpes yet I wonder.

I hope that my post did not scare you - what I meant to say was that if you did have oral sex with your boyfriend i am sure that you are fine as they say that canker sores are not caused from the herpes virus, but you probally still should not have oral sex when you have a canker sore just because it is simply not good hygiene.  Hope that answers your question.

Canker sores are not caused by herpes. They are not contagious. They are thought to have a genetic component to them since they tend to run in families.

I would not perform oral sex on someone when I had active canker sores. They are an open portal into the body for bacteria.

They say that canker sores are not caused by the herpes virus, but I just wouldn't chance it.  Because for starters if your canker sore is oozing or bleeding you could open yourself up to a whole bunch of other virus's yourself.
