Yes it is possible but unlikely. Because 1. you have to come into direct contact with the sore. 2. The mouth is very hostile and does well against STD's and 3. Syphilis is rare in most parts of the world.

The reason I said syphilis is because I was reading about chancres.  What else gives you small red sores (i had one small one on my mouth)?  I am being treated for two different stds and they are not sure which ones until my lab results come back.   Also, what are the chances of getting hep c from kissing when one or both have an opening?

Small red sores in your mouth could be so many different things and non STD related. Syphilis gives one large sore.

Hep C...zero.

I'm sorry, I wasn't being real clear, I had one sore on the outside of my mouth.  And, also, are you telling me that one can't pass hep c to another person even if they both have open wounds in their mouths?

For more info on Hep please post in that community. They will have the best info for you.

A sore could be from many different things, maybe it is herpes, over 60% of the population have it. If you are worried about syphilis then you can always test for it 6 weeks after exposure but like I said your risk was probably very very low.
