Chlamydia or herpes

Chlamydia or herpes

Hi doctor. So 14 days ago, engaged in oral and vaginal sex with a sex worker (both PROTECTED), which vaginal sex lasted less than 15 sec. No checking on expiry date of the condom, and what type of it it is (latex or not)
Tested PCR test for Chlamydia after 9th day of exposure, came back NEG. Few days after, had slight urination pain when passing urine, only on starting of urination process, and no discharge. A bit lower abdominal pain urinating.
I was with my gf for 5 days after the encounter.

1.Could the result be invalid? Is PCR test for it after 8-9 days reliable? Or is it herpes? No bumps or blisters are seen around genital area, and confirmed by checking of my GP on 18th of July.

2.If Chlamydia was transmitted, does it mean HIV could have been transmitted also? (carelessness on condom)

3.My gf had some pimples like things (which is a few) on her upper nose, and have liquid like after

You cannot catch any STD through an intact condom, whether latex or natural skin, and regardless of the expiration date.  If it doesn't break, you're home free.  Thus, your symptoms can't be due to the exposure you describe, unless you caught a cold from the sex worker.

1) Chlamydia testing is reliable within 2-3 days of getting infected.  Your test result proves you didn't catch chlamydia.

2) Irrelevant.  You cannot catch HIV through an intact condom.

3, 4) Those symptoms don't sound at all like herpes or any other STD.

5) You cannot have an STD from the commercial encounter you describe; and no STD can be transmitted by kissing or hand-to-genital contact.

6) Not with the condom.

7) Herpes can be treated but not cured.  For more information, use the search link to look for 'genital herpes' and 'herpes treatment', or look at websites with detailed information about herpes, such as www.cdc.gov/std or www.ashastd.org.  You don't have herpes, at least not from the commercial encounter you describe.

My general advice is to mellow out.  There just is no realistic risk here of herpes or any other STD.  Your only problem is your anxiety and depression over your infidelity.  You might discuss that aspect with your GP and follow his advice about possible medication or counseling.

Good luck--  HHH, MD

Just some follow up, I had a swollen gland on my neck (small) today as told by doctor, she said it's mostly caused by flu or cold which a lot of ppl get here these days. No fever. She said it most probrably is sore throut but I don't really pain with it. I am really worried that it's symptoms of HIV. Could it be caused by flame which I had for past 2 weeks which hasn't really cleared up yet from some cough?(cough is better now). My GP also told me the chance for HIV is very low but I am really scared.
Also isn't herpes transmittable thru kissing?
Assumed I had any of these STD, am I very infectionous during the first few days after encounter?
Please reply.

Trust me and trust your doctor. We both know what we are talking about. There is no chance you caught HIV or any STD from the encounter you describe. It's time to start worrying instead about things that have a greater chance of harming you--like being struck by a meteroite. Listen to your doctor and follow her advice. I will have no further comments.
