Coccobacilli are rod shaped bacteria, but they are short and fat, so that they look like a cross between rods (bacilli) and spheres (cocci). There are many types of coccobacilli including Haemophilus influenzae, Chlamydia trachomatis, Acinetobacter species, Pasteurella multocida, and a number of others. They are usually opportunistic pathogens, causing no problem until the other flora of the region are disturbed. All of them respond to antibiotic treatment.

The term coccobacilli is non-specific. It's like the term "furniture." Furniture can be chairs, tables, sofas, and beds. Coccobacilli can be Chlamydia trachomatis which is an STD and is only sexually transmitted.

It can also be H. influenzae or one of the others, which are not STDs. The others can be found when there is bacterial vaginosis, which is a vaginal infection that occurs when the normal vaginal flora (bacteria and yeasts) are disturbed. The coccobacilli then grow out of bounds. Things that can disturb vaginal bacteria are douching, bubble baths, taking antibiotics, stress, and sometimes no reason is found. If the coccobacilli found was Chlamydia, it should have said so.

I don't know anything about this, but this is what I was able to find online.

Chlamydia is not a coccobacillus. The most common coccobacillus is Gardnerella the bacterial cause of Bacterial vaginosis. This is easily treated by your Doctor. No, it does not cause cancer. It is not an STD. All of the other bacteria Vance listed do not cause BV. Take care.

Today I got the bad news
1. Herpes virus IGG Ab I-positive
2. Herpres virus IGG Ab II- Negative
Tested on 4th Oct( 4th week after exposure) I did ask the Doc about numberic value but they un able to provide. Left no choice now!  Can I assume this old infection? I need to find some other clinic where I can get numberic value.
As I have other symptoms they did penis skin Scarpe and urine test and I also asked them to test for Hep A,C IGG.

Doc  gave B Braun(0.9% sodium chloride Injection B.P(mini-Plasco) asked me to clean my penis with this and apply " Biotine ointment(Teracycline hydrochiloride 3.0%).

My doc said my urine and scarpe test was normal but after I collect my result copy I found one of my result s follows

Description: Gram stain(Urethral smear)
Report Details: Urethral smear

Pus cells:0-4  Epithelial cells:0-4 per hpf
few                                  gram                     +ve                       coccobacilli

Hi Dr./ Dra.,

I just wanna ask what is the meaning of my smear result +3 coccobaccilli ?

I just had my pap smear last week and got the result today via SMS so i don't got chance to ask the doctor. I am 24 years old, had a fiance for about 1 year and very active on my sexual life. I felt a bit nervous, worried and shy to face the Doctor to explain me what is this means.

Please help me, i just wanna know if this case are serious? I am expecting for your kind response.

Thank you,
Sweet
