Actually, you should wait at least 3 weeks, preferably a month, as dead dna from the bacteria might be lingering, and that could give you a false positive.
As I said you may have symptoms up to a couple of weeks. You are most likely clear from the infection but the body still has to discharge everything from the infection.
I apologize for being so impatient. I know some people that have had chlamydia and have stopped having symptoms after a few days. Thank you for your patience and the work you do on here.
I understand how frustrating it can be, you get diagnosed with something and given medication and see some improvement but still have those same symptoms, so your get worried that it's not going away.
No worries, just give it some more time. If you still have the same amount of symptoms this time next week call up your Dr and advise them. But I think your symptoms will gradually get less and less.
Sorry to open this post back up, but I went to see my doctor today for the follow up. I still have a slight discharge, but it is mostly present in the morning. My doctor says that I should have been fine by now. He said that he doesn't think the zithromax worked. He put me on a different prescription. Now I am really confused and I am not sure what I should believe. I really thought I was getting better and that the zithromax would have taken care of it.
He prescribed me with Levofloxacin for 7 days. He tried to give me some doxy last week and it gave me really bad diarrhea. A different doctor (in the same office) told me to stop taking it and prescribed me a z-pack.
I was told to take one gram at once and then take one pill the next few days. I am sorry to be a pain about this. First I was told I would be okay within seven days and then told it can take up to two weeks to get rid of the symptoms, so I am pretty confused. The discharge seems to be less, but still I don't know if this is normal.
Okay, do you think I should still abstain from sex? Probably a dumb question, but just wondering if the bacteria could be dead and my body just discharging it still.
You can test after 2 weeks to make sure the medication has had the desired effect.
Give it time, nothing works over night.

I'm assuming you got doxy?

Sometimes it just takes a different medication to cure people. I wouldn't read too much into it.
