Concerned about herpes

Hey Dr.

I am concerned about an enconter i had with a stripper about a week ago. I was intoxicated and stupidly got a lap dance from a stripper. However, midway through she began giving me a handjob and i fingered her. She continued until i ejaculated. As well, she stopped at times to give me lap dances over my underwear. I am almost a hundred percent sure that my genitals did not touch hers during the lap dance, but there is always that little doubt becuase i was drunk that maybe for a second they did. Imediatly after the handjob i went to the bathroom and washed my genitals with soap and water. Over the past week i have been more aware of any type of itch or sensation in my gentials becuase of my concern about the issue. but have not seen any symptoms of herpes. I have never had sex nor do i plan on it till marrige.

My Questions are:
1.Do you feel there is a need to get tested for herpes or any other STD's?
2. How long would sypmtoms take to show if any disease was passed?
3. Do you think i am over reacting and should just forget about it?

Thank you so much for the advice.

Easy questions to answer because you are not at risk.  Even if your genitals touched her there was no penetration and the duration of exposure was brief.  To your answers:

1.  No, this was a no risk exposure.
2.  I think the symptoms you are experiencing are, as you suggest, a reflection of your increased awareness resulting from your concerns.  Alternatively, you could have increased itching from the use of hand soap in the bathroom or, if you are scratching.  In general, the more you scratch, the worse itching gets.
3.  Just forget about it.  You are OK.

Hope this helps.  As I said earlier, drunk or not, touching genitals or not, this was a NO risk exposure.  EWH
