Confused about oral?

Im 18 and have just started a sexual relationship, neither of us have had any sexual experiences with anyone before, so is there any risk in unprotected oral sex?

You can also have infections since birth. For example, a mother infected with hepatitis B can give it to her baby at birth, in which case the baby will almost always become a chronic carrier.

Virgins can have hsv1 orally. About 1/3 of us pick it up as children from our caregivers.  hsv1 can be transmitted to the genital area through oral sex. Most folks who have hsv1 orally, don't get obvious cold sores to know that they are infected.

Many folks who consider themselves virgins mean it to mean that no one has ejaculated inside them ( or they haven't ejaculated inside someone ). It's important to talk to your partner about what activities they've participated in prior to you ( and vice versa ). If you've both had a lot of naked outercourse, there could be other std's as a risk.

overall, the risk of a std with 2 virgins is very low in general and it's totally up to the two of you if you want to even pursue any herpes testing or any other testing. we don't have tests for hpv for males available commercially and we don't test for the types of hpv that cause warts in either gender.

           Yes

are oral and genital herpes completly different?
This has been discussed ad nauseum, here is one suck thread: http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Herpes/HSV1-and-HSV2-on-same-location/show/1292127?personal_page_id=1411239#post_5919317

should i worry if either of us has a cold sore?
the link above will allow you to make a good judgement on that.

Brosef, you are right. Yes, you can get infections even from a virgin. You can have things like herpes or CMV since childhood. Actually you are very likely to have them since childhood. Oral herpes CAN be transmitted from the mouth to the genitals through oral sex, I know such stories. Even in the absense of sores it is possible, since there are periods of asymptomatic shedding. The fact that you ever had a cold sore doesn´t mean you don´t have the virus. Given the extremely high seroprevalence of HSV1 in the population, the risk is very high.

You have to 1st have unprotected sex with other non-virgins to have a risk of a STD. So if neither of you have done anything proior then neither has had a risk.
herpes comes from sexual acts and neither of u had it before
