doctor should this lady get tested for herpes?
Do i need to post a new thread to get an answer..i really need to know so i can stop freaking out. I was given the shot last night around 6:30 it is not 2:35pm...should it have worked by now? please help.
If you were given a Ceftriaxone injection to treat gonorrhea how long would it normally take for symptoms to go away?
You are correct that some gonorrhea is not cured by doxycycline however you have had negative tests for gonorrhea (twice). Believe the tests--they indicate that this is not something you need to worry about.
As your the doctor's comment about "some other bacteria", I cannot be sure what he was talking about. This may have been an (not very successful) attempt to be reassuring. I suspect there in no other infection here but if you have further questions, I would suggest you seek clarification form the doctor who made the comment. My guess is that there is no STD or other infection present at this time. EWH
Thank you for replying so quickly. I am trying to get over this situation but it is kind of hard since I cant get an answer of what I have/had. I read that doxy can be resistant to gonnorreah so that is why i am concerned about it. Also, you didnt really answer my question about the doctor telling me i had some bacterial infection that was not an STD, BV, yeast, or trich. He named some bacteria that i cant remember but how come on these sites it doesnt mention any other bacterial infection other than the ones i listed? Have you heard of any?
Before we get to your questions, a point of information that many clinicians are not aware of--current tests for gonorrhea and chlamydia work just as well for women on their period as women who are not menstruating. The wet mount tests for trichomonas, yeast and bacterial vaginosis are not as good. Thus you can be tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia. Now on to your questions:
1. Symptoms are notoriously unreliable indicators of STD in women. Women have normal vaginal discharge which tends to vary over the course of the menstrual cycle. When we turn our attention to things like this, we may be noting what is actually a normal discharge.
2. Over the course of these events your therapy for yeast and chlamydia (the doxycycline) make that diagnosis unlikely and you can rest comfortably that if you had those infections, they have been treated as well.
3. So what about other infections? Believe the tests, they are more reliable than symptoms, you've been tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia--thus you do not have them. Since he/she also looked for BV and trich, you can rest assured regarding them as well. My guess is that the discharge you are noting is normal. Please rest assured.
Hope this helps. EWH
