Could it be NGU?

by regretful39, Jul 17, 2009 02:14PM
Let me start by saying that i'm a 39 year old male who is married. Regretfully, i had unprotected oral and vaginal sex with a female one time about a year ago. Within hours of the encounter, i began experiencing problems. The tip of my penis felt irritated as if i was having discharge and it was sticking to my underwear. The next day I went to my primary physician because I was worried that I had gotten some type of std. I explained the situation to him and that I wanted nothing in my medical file about the encounter because of fear that it may some day be revealed to my wife. The doctor examined me and stated that he didn't think that I had a std because I wouldn't have symptoms that soon but my prostate felt a little enlarged and that may be from a prostate infection. He said that he would treat me as if I had a prostate infection and that if I did get something from the encounter the antibiotics would treat that as well. He gave me an injection at the office and a 10 day dose of doxycycline. No tests were done at this time for std's. I asked him how soon after starting the antibiotics could i have sex with my wife. He said to wait 7 days and I would be fine. Even though the symptoms never went away, I had sex with my wife on the 8th day thinking that it was my prostate because i have had problems with it in the past.Since then, I have had three tests for chlamydia/gonorrhea, two urine and one swab, and all came back negative. I'm still experiencing irritation at the tip of my penis around the opening. Sometimes i have spotting in my underwear that will happen one day and then will go several days and have nothing. After i urinate it feels as though some is still leaking out after i pull up my pants and that is whats causing the irritation. I have been to three different doctors and two urologist, which don't think that it is an std but i think they are basing that on the chlamydia/gonorrhea test. I have been on several different antibiotics which have not helped. I'm afraid that i have given something to my wife and the reason the medications are not working is because of reinfection from her. Could it be NGU caused by something other than chlamydia? My wife has complained a couple of time over the past year that she thought she may have a urinary tract infection but never went to the doctor about it and I guess the symptoms went away because she never said anything else about it. She had her anual check up and pap smear and I assume everything was normal because she didn't say otherwise. What kind of symptoms would she have if it was NGU?

Doubt that it is NGU based on your tests and medication given. Your 1st Dr was right that you do not show symptoms of a STD within hours, it takes at least 2 days.

Whatever is going on I doubt that it is a STD. You can keep folowwing up with your Dr's but I am guessing that with the testing done they would have ruled out NGU.
