Could this be HSV??

I have never had unprotected anal intercourse.I have had receptive anal intercourse 4 times. My last encounter with condom was in 2005 and I was HIV negative in December 2005 (5 months later).I had oral sex with a man in January 2006 who also rimmed me.  I have had two encounters (no penetration) since then. The first one was in March 2006 with a man who I performed oral sex on for about a minute, he did not ejaculate. He then performed oral sex on me and I ejaculated in less than a minute. There was no anal contact. My next sexual encounter was with a man in August 2007 and we were involved in heavy kissing and body contact. He performed oral sex on my penis for a few minutes and we embraced with his penis in between my legs and rubbed in between my thighs for a while. We did not have any anal contact. I am not sure if his penis reached my anal margin anal margin. I have had an anal fissure and mild haemorrhoids in the past. I was not symptomatic during this episode and a couple of months later, I had the recurrence of anal fissure and it healed over the next several weeks. I have had discomfort since then aggravated by bowel movements and rubbing with tissue. The bowel movements per se are not painful anymore but sitting for a long period aggravates the discomfort dramatically. I wake up symptom free most days and after the bowel movement the symptoms start and persist all day. I also have noticed haemmrhoidal bumps in the anal area but they are not very dramatic. They are many times sore to touch and get inflamed at other times. I have a lot of hair and especially in the pelvic and anal area. During the time the area is inflamed, it feels as if each one of those hair hurt. I am anxious whether this could be herpes in my anal area. I have not been symptom free for more than a week since Aug 2007. I have not had any other sexual encounter since that time. I have also gained about 10 lbs since then.Do I have an STD or worsening haemmrhoids?? Also, what are my chances of getting HIV from such an encounter. I was thinking low but I have had these persistent rectal symptoms for the last several months that have driven me crazy!

Maybe, but not likely.  I would follow up with your doctor though.

Thanks a lot for your response. I do know that I have haemmorhoids and have had rectal bleed a few times too. I have no urinary symptoms and the discomfort is mainly located around the anal area. Could this still be prostatitis??

I'd wonder if you have prostatitis, actually.  If this hasn't been checked, you should make an appt with your doctor.

Not having had unprotected anal sex, I don't see a risk for HIV.
