Could this be an STD or Penile Cancer?

by CGTMHI, Sep 27, 2005 12:00AM
My story started in December of 2004, I am a 32 yrs man …married and have one child. Although I do inspect my penis regularly, in December, I had an afternoon nap when I woke up I went to the bathroom – normal and did not feel any thing during the day though at work I went to bathroom -  and all of a sudden I found like two pin holes in the head of my penis. It was two, each is about 0.5 - 1 mm. Then my life turned black……….

During the anxiety after this discovery, there are changes in shaft skin – discoloration – in my penis ( large areas ). These areas did not turn “ white” or “ red “, but are only getting - irregularly shaped - brighter. Overall area about 2 cm, 1 cm in each side in the upper side of the shaft.

These areas were not flaky, but a little dry and smoother meaning not rough like the normal areas. Never had any bleeding–no inflammation - or any fluids coming out.   The pin hole was gone after two weeks – 3rd week of December 2004. What I am sure about, this pin hole does not look like a sore nor blistered area, not a wart – there was no discharge from this hole and was not causing any pain at all. I had no pain during urination no strange discharge from my penis, until now – 9 months later. There are no swollen areas, and these areas  rarely become itchy.

Lately, I started to feel – though I am in the middle of deadly anxiety - that the color of these areas started to return back with some areas turned a little darker but not strangely black without applying any medication.

Please, I need to know very badly whether what I have does indicate any symptoms or even an early symptoms of any STD, or a penile cancer? and what is the medical explanation of “ white patches “ ?

Many thanks…..

The symptoms you describe do not sound to me like any STD, nor do they sound like penile cancer.  Penile cancer is an extraordinarily rare disease, and its symptoms cannot just appear overnight.  However, I cannot say anything more and will not attempt to make a specific diagnosis on line.  You will need to see a health care provider.

I am sorry I cannot be more helpful.  Good luck--  HHH, MD
