Definition of Condom Failure and my High Globulin and total Protein score

Hello,
Dr. whats your definition of condom failure and questions about my cbc blood test scores regarding globulin and total protein and If should be concered.

I put a condom on, the 2 times I had intercourse, and I remember pinching the top,(both times) but not rolling all the air out of the bottom of the condom.  After I ejaculated (both times)my semen did not collect in the reservoir tip. When I took the condom off, I noticed my semen in the condom dripping down to base(both times.  My condom seemed fully intact when I pulled out of her.  I have been told if the condom had broken, that I would have noticed it, felt it, once I pulled out it would've been unrolled to my base of penis?  I didnt notice any of that.  If there was a hole the woman is at risk not me?
Here is my blood test from my physical.
Protein, Total, Ser/Plas my score - 8.3, the range for normal is (6.0-8.0) This was high, what does this mean?
Albumin, Ser/Plas my score - 4.7, the range for normal is (3.5-5.0)
Globulin my score - 3.6, the range for normal is (2.5-3.5) This was high, what does this mean?
WBC(white blood cell) my score - 5.8 the range for normal is (4.0-11.0) What does this mean. I know white blood cells fight for immune system right, is this normal?
RBC (red blood cell) my score - 5.29, the range for normal is (4.40-5.90)
Hemaglobin my score - 16.0 the range for normal is (13.5-17.7)
Platelet count, my score 271, the range for normal is (150-400)
I ask, because I got intimate with my wife again 4 days ago, since my encounter, used a condom and my semen collected at tip, unlike other time

monkey flower,

thanks for the comment.  Im trying to let go, and I thought I did, but, like I said in my other posts, my mind is playing games on me with the condom issue, I know my condom didnt break, but I wanted to know if semen usually or always fills up the reservoir tip when Males use them?  Thats all.  But thanks

Oops, I hit post by accident, lol. I meant to just add that I feel for you; your anxiety and sense of guilt is palpable. I do think that with help, though, you can come to some sense of acceptance and inner peace. Be gentle with yourself :-)

I have been in your position and understand exactly what your going through. There is a lot of information out there and a lot of mis information.

Your at NO risk for HIV. You can go to The Body and there are many posting from Dr. Bob on your HIV risk. No matters what Dr. HHH states in his email (and there are several postings about this), you will not be 100% at easy until you get tested.

You don't even have to go back to your Dr. if your uncomfortable with it. You can go to healthcheckusa.com and get a Herpeselect blood test and get a home access test (that's the brand name) for an HIV test.

Take care man and Good luck!

You're whipping yourself for no reason. I think it might really help you to express all this in person, preferably to a sex therapist if possible.

You should be straight with your Doctor and tell them what happened. They will test you for STDs (Plus ask for Herpes testing by name 'HerpeSelect').

Your going through a lot of guilt. You might want to seek counseling.

I think once you get tested, all your symptoms might just go away.

Good luck!

zswp023ad,

thanks for your comments.  Please refer to my original posting on Jan 28th, 2005, "feeling guilty and nervous".  And "Follow up question for my original post jan 28th, cunnilingus, on Feb 11th, 2005."

I have told my GP everything and my concerns and he advised I only test for and tested negative for Hep A B C, Chlamydia, Gonnarhea, Syphilis when I saw him.  He sad not to test for herpes or HIV.

My only unprotected exposure was for peforming cunnilingus and using my fingers to stimulate at the same time.  I have been told by many that I am not at risk for performin this act, that it was only theoretical possibility, though the documented cases are being disputed.

But I wanted to get the Dr.s view on Condom issue I have posted.

Thanks

Doc,

Thanks for your response.

I am a bit confused on your comments though!

You said..... "Whether or not semen collects in the tip of the condom reservoir has to do only with the way the condom was put on, the position of the tip when you ejaculate, etc; certainly no implications for your health or whether the condom is working to protect you and your partners from either disease or conception."

Are you saying from this statement that as long as the condom stayed intact, which from what I described, it did, because it didnt unroll down my penis nor did I notice any holes on the condoms when took them off after each of my 2 times of having intercourse with her, that I am fine with my act no matter if the semen went into the resorvoir tip or not which was the case in my situation?  Just confused and you got me scared, because I did not understand your comment.  Please clarify as you always do?

Second question...

you said....."Condom failure means transmission of disease or exchange of fluids that was unintentional, despite using a condom. Condoms mostly fail because they are not used properly, and only rarely due to breakage, leaks, etc. If there were a hole, either partner may be at risk."

I have been told, by STD counselors other experts like yourself,  if there was a hole in the condom, from a males perspective, that the whole condom would have ripped, unrolled down to my base of my penis, I would have felt it.  Which it didnt do.  And if there was a even a small hole, which I didnt notice, in the condom, that the receiver would be more at a risk then the giver because of the semen touching the receiver.  I am confused because you said if there were a hole, you said either partner may be at risk.  Is that risk significant, if the hole was big, or if the hole was small?  Again from what I have been told, if there was a hole, tiny one, then the receiver would be at more of a risk because of fluids from the semen coming out, than, in my case, vaginal fluids, coming in through the hole and working its way into my urethra.  Again, I dont remember seeing any types of holes.

I do apologize for trying to be detailed, Im just trying to let this go and was curious about the condom failure thing.  I am very sure I did not see any visible holes in each of the 2 condoms I used when I had intercourse with the female.

Please doc, I am just trying to elaborate on this and not get scarred from something that I thought I was confidently over with.

Finally the only reason I am thinking this is because of being intimate with my wife again after 10 months, and after I was intimate with the other woman last year.  It was a big step for me.

Regarding the blood tests.  Every year, I take a physical, and my GP pulls a blood panel, checking my CBC, Lipid panel (cholesterol), and metabolic panel.  My doc didnt warrant any testing of this, but I was just so use to taking these test when I was younger that I keep doing it.  just to clear that up.

My problem was I just started reading up, on the internet, on the total protein and globulin, and albumin levels and I let it play with my head with my total protein and globulin was just a tad high, and I didnt know if I was because it was fighting an infection and if I was the unlucky person who got HIV from cunnilingus, or its just normal and bit high because I am a big muscular guy and work out alot?  I dunno.....I should have not read on the internet about these levels and what happens if they are high or low and my WBC, compared to my RBC, and if I had low lyphocytes or not and if it were any way related to HIV.

Thats all Doc!

Please clarify.  Thanks again for being so kind to answer complicated questions and not so complicated questions.

best regards,

islandboy

Dr.

Sorry for posting so much.  Your expert questions on my answers are really appreciated!!

What I am bascially saying in addition to my above message and message from Jan 28th.  Is after I got intimate with my wife again, since she gave birth, it has been 10 or so months since we did anything(she was pregnant).  And when I was intimate with my wife, I made sure I used the same condoms, Trojan Ultra Ribbed Lubricated, and when I put it on, I pinched the top and unrolled all the air out of the condom and when I ejaculated, I filled the reservoir tip.  Unlike the 2 times I ejaculated with the girl, where the semen didnt collect at the reservoir, this time it did. Your thoughts on this please.

Finally the CBC blood test scores.  I did visit with my GP yesterday and asked about the elevated globulin and total protein, he said that I might be fighting an infetction, then I said, what about if it was HIV, and he said my #'s would be lower, I am assuming he meant for globulin, total protein?

Just like I said in my other post Doc, I just had a relapse because of being intimate with my wife again.

Thanks for your input Doc.

Best regards,

islandboy from California.

You seem badly over-attentive to details that mean nothing, both with respect to your blood tests and your concerns about condom use.  Whether or not semen collects in the tip of the condom reservoir has to do only with the way the condom was put on, the position of the tip when you ejaculate, etc; certainly no implications for your health or whether the condom is working to protect you and your partners from either disease or conception.

Condom failure means transmission of disease or exchange of fluids that was unintentional, despite using a condom.  Condoms mostly fail because they are not used properly, and only rarely due to breakage, leaks, etc.  If there were a hole, either partner may be at risk.

The blood test results look entirely normal to me.  In any case, why are you asking this of an on-line doc?  Speak with the provider who arranted the testing.

The additional questions in your follow-up comment don't modify my responses.

Good luck-- HHH, MD
