Welcome to the Forum. I have a comment or two but really need to know more information about the herpes test (was is a blood test?) that was performed.
The bumps you describe really do not sound like HSV. If they were they would not have been there the entire time you have been waiting for test results, they would have changed and/or gone away by now. The could be warts, molluscum contagiousum or folliculitis. Perhaps with a trip to your local STD clinic you can have someone take a look. Alternatively you might ask a dermatologist.
My guess is that the bumps you describe are not HSV but that does not mean that you don't have HSV. The topic of herpes is a complex one. The disease is common with HSV-1 being present in over 60% of adults and HSV-2 (the virus which causes most genital herpes) being present in about 1 in 5 Americans. For both infections, the majority of people who have the infections are not aware that they are infected, either because they either acquired it without knowing in the past or because they misidentified their herpes as something else. Many questions and lots of information about herpes can be obtained by accessing excellent informational web sites such as the one run by the American Social Health Association (disclosure, Dr. Handsfield and I are both on the Board of Directors of ASHA).
Was it a blood test. What type? Can you tell me the results and whether the tests were positive for HSV-1 or HSV-2. All of this will help me to help you. EWH
If your current doctor has not provided a diagnosis, you may wish to seek the opinion of another health care provider- perhaps at a local STD Clinic or a dermatologist. EWH
