Do I have an STD?

Do I have an STD?

I am a 19 yr old male who had unprotected sex with a risky female - stupid i know. She told me she has been tested but I don't know if I believe her.  The next morning I felt this hard painless bump in my pubic region.  It was almost like a big pimple i guess. It seemed to pop just like a pimple.  I thought nothing of it and it went away pretty quickly.  The following day I noticed some tingling around my genital area and anus.  That also went away later in the day.  I really had no other symptoms for awhile.  A couple weeks later I had pain urinating but it went away after a couple days so I didn't worry about it.  Then I began to notice some purple blotches on the head of my penis - they are not raised and the skin is completely normal but it looks almost like a bruise that never goes away.  Also whenever I get an erection or ejaculate or in the shower the head gets real irritated and red spots are all on it. The tip of my penis also gets real red.  I also have been yawning more than normal about 3 weeks after the incident and it has not let up.  Sometimes it is also painful at the tip of my penis when urinating and I noticed a strong bad smelling odor coming from the tip of my penis.  Anyway those are all my symptoms - It's alot I know but I'm worried I may have herpes or any STD.  Also what should I tell my doctor to test for and so forth.  I told him my symptoms but not about the sexual incident and he gave me a urine test and blood test and the results came back fine except for abnormal liver enzymes?   Thanks - great site to come to for information Doc.

The original bump sounds like it was exactly what you describe, a pimple or folliculitis (hair follicle infection).  It doesn't sound like an STD, and no STD would appear as a new bump only a day after exposure.  None of the other symptoms sound like any STD, with the possible exception of the pain during urinating.  (Definitely not the odor, red spots that change with erection, or yawning.)

Just tell the doctor your symptoms and let him/her decide what to test for.  The main thing is to be sure you don't have urethritis (infection in the urine passage) such as chlamydia or gonorrhea.  A urine test can check those out.  No other STD sounds likely.

Good luck--  HHH, MD

I can't come up with any known condition that would appear suddenly and have the appearance you describe.  Discoloration without other change usually doesn't indicate anything important.  In most cases, the changes actually were present all along but are first noticed after some event--such as an unsafe exposure--results in closer inspection or heightened anxiety.  But of course you are a much better judge than I am, without knowing or examining you, whether this is likely to be the case for you.  In any case, when you get checked, ask your health care provider.

Best wishes--   HHH, MD

I had oral sex with someone and the next day I noticed a small red mark on the mid section of my penis.  It went away after a couple days, and then it came back a few months later, but there were a couple more and they were itchy.  I scratched and my penis became scally kind of.  I stopped scratching and now everything is gone, but I'm scared it will come back again.  Do I have an STD?
