Does this sound like herpes?

by Jwil89, Jun 07, 2008 11:50PM
About two months ago i had unprotected intercourse with a new partner.  About 3 to 4 days after intercourse I developed 3 small itchy bumps on the shaft of my penis.  These painless itchy bumps had no puss in them and did not pop or blistur, but they did scab over.  Accompanying the bumps my lymph nodes became swollen and sore to the touch.  3-4 weeks later the sore lymph nodes and bumps went away.  But one area where the first bump appeared hasn't fully healed persay.  It'll get itchy and little bumps will appear after masturabation in that specific area.  The little itchy bumps will go away after a day or so after masturbation.  Does this sound like a case of herpes?

The first part of your paragraph sounds like herpes. However, herpes does not re-occur after masturbation.

Next time you get the bumps, go see the doctor and get them cultured for Herpes, Fungus, and Bacteria. You can also have a type specific blood after 3-4 months. However, neither method will tell you when you were infected.

A good dermatologist is probably your best bet. Sometimes a general practitioner or STD clinic will only culture for a few of the possible causes and miss the rest.

For example, I had a blister cultured for Herpes at Planned Parenthood. I had the same blister cultured the next day at a dermatologist.

Planned Parenthood called me in a week to say: "congrats your culture came back negative for herpes!"

The Dermatologist called me to say: "your culture came back negative for herpes, but positive for staph. we tested its resistance to drugs. the best drug for treatment is... ". See the difference?
