Dry skin on head of penis - redish forskin

by sivista, Dec 03, 2008 01:46PM
First off Im not sure where this port should go, but heres my problem.

I'm 29 and been seeing my current girlfriend for 6 months - I have had no symptoms of anything wrong on my penis. We have used protection the whole time until the weekend just gone as she has gone on the pill. today (3 days after unprotected sex) I have felt my penis to feel "dusty" is the only way I can explain it. y forskin is definatly red in colour, and the head of the penis looks pale compared to usual.

It doesnt itch but the foreskin does feel very sore.

On getting an errection dusty dry skin on the penis becomes apparent! When the efrection is lost the head looks to be covered in dandrufff flakes!

I do NOT have any of the following symptoms:

Sores or lumps on the forskin or head of penis.
No cuts.
No discolouration of urine.
No pain during urination.
No change in the frequency of urination.

I also havn't change shower products or washing powders.

I think it maybe the male version of thrush but not sure. Any ideas? thanks.

I think you are right - its some kind of fungal infection, and the timing might be coincidental or your gf has some yeast.

You should see your doctor to confirm this, but I don't see anything that sounds like an std.

Thanks AJ,

I've never had anything like this happen before so it is a bit worrying. I will try and get a GP appointment though .

thanks again. Any over views?

OK time for an update!

I had a sexual health test that came back all clear, and after taking canestan oral (the tablet) and using the cream for two weeks. It cleared up and hasnt come back (touch wood!).

The thing is that the membrane under the foreskin looks a lot redder than it was before - and "thinner". It doesnt hurt at all, theres no cuts or anything.

I stopped using the Canestan cream about 6 weeks ago, and have only been washing with a gental shower cream.

Theres definatly a difference. Is this normal from using anti-fungal creams?

Also Ive been using condoms for a while and it seems to flare up again around 2 or 3 days afterwards. Am I having a reaction to the condoms maybe?

Cremes can often cause the skin to become red or have a different feeling because they are healing the infection.
It sounds like you maybe haveing a reaction to the condom or maybe it is a combination of the creme with the condom.

Cheers Vance.

I havn't used the cream for around 6 weeks though. I'm guessing it is probably a reaction to the condoms - although Ive nver had that before so I find that strange.

Your skin just might be sensitive right now.  Give it a little time and if it lingers, see your doctor.
