About 6 weeks ago I was diagnosed with gonorrhea. I was given 250mg of ceftriaxoneCeftriaxone Ceftriaxone sodium and 1000mg of zithromax. About 2.5 weeks ago, I started getting this pain in my left testicle. It's not much of a pain as it is a discomfort which feels as if someone has kicked me. I did a urine analysis test and a urine test for gon/chlam a week ago and they came out negative. My doc physically examined my testicles and said that if I had epididymitis, my testicles would be physically swollen, which they're not.
What could this possibly be? I plan on going to a urologist, but cant anytime soon. Is it possible I have bacteria in my system which the STD/urineanalysis tests are not detecting? I have an appt with a urologist on May 17.
Why won't anyone answer? We're just a bunch of internet yahoos with no medical experience. "Demanding" that somebody respond to you is even less likely to get your complaints heard. You don't have the "right" to have your question answered on here. Plus you'd probably get a better response to this on the urology forum anyway.
One doctor already told you that it's not epididymitis. Now you are going to a urologist on 5/17. So what's the problem? Just wait until the 17th, and see what the second doctor says. Hopefully you won't be doctor-shopping after that consult, although I have my doubts about that.
It's not STD related, obviously. Put a compress on it if it's painful.
I have had Epididymitis for 15 years (vasectomy relateDd. It has never been associated with a fever and rarely obvious visual swelling (though if you know how to self exam you may feel the swelling. the pain is focused and chronic. What you describe does not sound like it but I have never had the STD you do. Since you are being treated the follow-up question should cause you no great angst. CALL!
I have had Epididymitis in the past 19 years three times. They are vasectomy related. The most recent one started on May 19, 2007. After going to the hospital emergency (I reside in Canada with social medicine, in my area I do have a family physician 40 miles away but I can go to the local hospital anytime and they give me pretty good treatment after several hours of waiting) and saw several doctors I suggested to the last one that I may have Epididymitis. He checked me out, took a urine sample (it was negativ for bacteria) and agreed wuth me. He prescribed antibiotics for 10 days - double strength Bactrim, which i stared to take yesterday, on May 27th. I asked the doc where the bacteria came from and he said it is difficult to tell. I am married, not screwing around and never had STD. So, the doc said it could be several reasons, one of them could be hygiene but definitely in some man the vasectomy could create a situation of more susceptibility.
I will let you know after my 10 days how the treatment went. I suggest you start the antibiotics no matter what, it could be Cipro, Floxin or Bactrim
