False Positive for HSV 2?

by withaneye, Aug 18, 2009 10:59AM
What is the possibility of a false-positive HSV-2 in a patient with AntiPhospholipid Syndrome?  I tested postive for APS in 2000.  in 2000, my anti-cardiolipin IgG anitbodies were significantly elevated at 24.0 GPL units/ml.  I recently took a Herpeselect 1 and 2 IgG Type Specific test and the levels on the report show >5.00.  The report also states that the performance of this assay has not been established for the testing of immunocompromised patients.  Could this be a false postive for HSV-2?
