Genital to genital HSV-1 transmission of course can occur, but most likely it is rare. I have never seen a case of genital HSV-1 that was not acquired by oral

Safe sex with someone in this situation. Not to say it can't occur, but it doesn't seem a realistic concern. Like your partner's situation, genital recurrences of HSV-1 and asymtpomatic viral shedding are much less common than for HSV-2. Further, whatever transmission chance exists is further reduced by your partner's antiviral therapy.
I hope you can get past your inflated concern about the risks. The odds are you would go through a lifetime of sex with this partner and never get infected. And if you get it, what's the big deal? Your partner's history--with rare outbreaks, few symptoms, etc--is typical. Genital herpes, even with HSV-2 and certainly with HSV-1, simply is not important enough to allow it to interfere with a committed and rewarding sexual relationship. Anyway, if you're going to eliminate every HSV-1 infected person from consideration, you are cutting your odds of finding a committed life partner by half. Are you going to ask all future prospective partners to have an HSV-1 test and avoid the positives? Or commit yourself to never have oral sex with all of them?
Anyway, the choice is yours. Good luck.

Thanks for your reply.
I just want to mke sure I really understand this.
You have never seen a case of Oral Herpes (HSV1) transferred from a woman to a man where the man performs oral sex on the woman with the woman having genital HSV1.
You have only ever seen Genital HSV 1 aquired through oral sex from a person infected with oral HSV1.
Can you confirm or deny these for me.
Thanks in advance for your response.
we even had sex during my intitial (and last) outbreak, in the first few days of the outbreak when its most likely to transfer (not that we planned on having sex with an outbreak, we just didnt know yet) and he still didnt get it
good luck
