Follow-Up Question (4 weeks later)

Dear Doctor:

I wrote to you about 4 weeks ago.   I had some INTERVENING developments so I

Let me see here.  It is cold season, your were exposed at work to people who have "fly symptoms", and you have symptoms like a cold.  And you're worried the symptoms could be due to HIV after being told there was zero risk of HIV transmission from the exposure you are concerned about?  I don't get it.  Your PCR test not only was too early, it was a waste of time, money, and energy and you shouldn't have been tested; shame on the health care provider who let him/her talk you into it.

No further follow-up questions, please; I will not respond.

Slightly Concerned I think your paranoia and hysteria over this is getting the best of you, I've found that the worst part of any STD is the irrational thought processes that come with it, you should definetely step back, take a deep breath and try to get a grip about it.  Your needless worrying is just a waste of energy.

I've made TWO postings, four weeks aparts.

I would hardly call that being paranoid.

Moreover, I certainly did not appeciate the sarcasm in the doctor's response.   It's NOT like I am guilty of having written in several times.  I actually did wait four weeks to write in, giving it some thought after my symptoms as to "whether or not" I should write back.

Thank you!

Caroline is right Slightly Concerned, you don't even see the fog you are in, hysteria about STD's can really make you blind to rational thinking, perhaps it will take some third parties like us to help you discover this, I mean the whole thing about people in your office with flu symptoms is a bit much, good luck!

Sunny T:

If you had any reading skills, you would see that I mentioned the people in my office with flu symptoms as a possible explanation for my flu symptoms.

I'm far from hysterical or paranoid.  I simply felt scared and slightly overwhelmed from my experience, and just wanted some reassurance.

Like Dr. H, I'm also done responding to this thread.  Thus, go ahead and waste your time, if you want to continue insulting me...and in the meantime, LEARN TO READ.

Slight Concerned:

Relax, my friend.

As I read the Doctor's response, it appears that he was merely trying to do two things:

1.   Tell you AGAIN that you were not at risk; AND

2.   Ask to you to NOT write anymore follow-up questions.  Why would he request this?  Because he does NOT want you to waste YOUR time, as you were NOT at risk.

Trust me, the Doctor is a professional, and it's in YOUR best interests to put this behind you.  You wiped off almost all the baby oil from your member.  Thus, as you stated, you basically took a 99.9% risk-free activity and made it 100% risk-free.

Slightly Concerned your hysteria is getting the best of you, Sunny T. was just trying to lend you support, you should take a step back, take the Doctor's advice and stop wasting your time and money, the Doctor spends an awful lot of time handholding and offering redundant reassurance, you should trust his original comment to you and just move on with your life, good luck.

SweetCaroline:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in this case, there was NOT even a theoretical risk.

I mean, for God's sake:  receiving a BJ is practically ZERO risk.  Even if the condom's protection was only at 90%, it would still mean zero risk.

I want to issue an apology to everyone, especially the doctor.  Although I'm not hysterical (that's an exagerration), I did allow my fears of HIV to get the best of me.

Unfortunately, I got the cold/allergies/tiny flu three weeks after this, and I put the wrong "2 + 2" together.

I'm sorry to everyone.  Please accept my apologies.
