You can go where ever you please. My advice is still to go see the people who see these sorts of problems every day. that is the STD Clinic.
This concludes this thread. EWH
Yea thank you doctor, i just found it incredibly scary knowing that the frequent urinating began 2-3 days after i had oral sex for my first time! Its unbelievable. 1 more question and im sorry about the entire mix-up. will a Urologist be able to test for that as well? and prescribe me something to stop it.
Chlamydia is one cause of NGU but there are a number of other bacteria associated withthe syndorme and in some patients although there are not specific bacteria detected, the NGU responds to therapy with anti-chlamydial therapy.
the Health Department should not charge you $300. That is where you should go if possible.
Take care. EWH
yes sir. I was tested for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea (Neg both) and now im hoping to get tested for NGU. i thought they were the same thing doctor? can you please explain the difference. What about UTI's? Am i able to go and see a any health care physician for NGU and UTI's instad of an std clinic? They wanna charge me about 300 dollars. Im not really worried about HSV-2 thanks to you. The reason why i was so nervous was because it was the only std i found out that causes frequent urination since i tested negative for the others. And ive read how people were tested positive with only constant urination and burning afterwards. The tingling keeps subsiding on and off. Im sorry for all these ridiculous questions. and thank you for your time doctor =)
You appear to continue to be fixated on HSV-2. I repeat, this really is a waste of your time.
Genital HSV does NOT cause frequent urination.
Most people do experience outbreaks, they may miss them or attribute them to other causes. give your high level of anxiety, I doubt that you would miss a genital lesion of any sort.
No, it would be most unusal, if not unheard of for your symptoms to last 2 weeks without the appearance of lesions.
It is now time for you to put aside your concerns about genital HSV. If you have not been evaluated for NGU in the way I outlined above, I recommend (again) that you do this. If you have been evaluated for NGU, you need to look for other, non-STD causes of your symptoms. EWH
Yes, i understand, i just had the other doctor know alittle more about my past with personal issues from my first forum. I did not know you share and I was in no position saying one doctor was better than the other. So i apologize if i was out of context. my mind and body have been calm and i do not have anxiety at all. I don't let it get to me but my body has been urinating alot which began 3-4 days after she performed oral sex. The burning and tingling has returned once after i urinate. Isn't it true that HSV-2 can cause frequent urination? and not everyone gets ulcers, lesions, and blister? correct? If this was from hsv-2 would my symptoms last this long. going past 2 weeks of frequent urination? The STD clinic said it could be from that and my heart sank. thank you for your time and i swear i did not mean to imply that i preferred the other doctor. He just knew more about me. I apologize once again.
Welcome to the Forum. As you probably know, Dr. Handsfield and I share the forum. You got me. FYI, the reason we share the forum is because we have worked together for nearly 30 years and while our verbiage styles vary, we have never disagreed on management strategies or advice to clients.
I will address your concerns in two ways, first dealing with your symptoms and whether or not you might have HSV.
Your risk for STD from the single oral exposure is low., I suspect your GF is at low risk for STD of any sort and even if she did have an STD, the chance that she would spread it to you with a single encounter is very, very low. Furthermore, STDs are NOT spread by kissing so do not even begin to worry about this. There is no reason to worry about HSV-2, or for that matter HSV of any sort from this exposure. If you had gotten HSV and it was contributing to your symptoms, you would have developed lesions. In the absence of lesions you should not worry. The one STD which might be associated with urinary frequency is non-gonococcal urethritis, which is diagnosed by demonstration of increased numbers of white blood cells in a urine specimen collected at the beginning of urination or in a urethral swab from the penis. In both cases you should not have urinated for at least an hour before your specimen is collected. You could have this done at your local STD clinic for little if any cost.
In addition however, from having read your earlier interaction with Dr. Handsfield, as well as from this interaction it is clear to me that you are quite concerned about the possibility of getting an STD. this worry, combined with the fact that sometimes after an exposure that, in retrospect, one wishes they had not had, persons tend to examine themselves and be far more attuned to genital sensations than in periods when they are not concerned. This in turn leads to noticing what turn out to be normal sensations that might have been not noticed or ignored at other times. I suspect this may be a contributor to your problems. Increases anxiety can certainly be associated with the sort of tingling sensations you described earlier, as well as with urinary frequency. If your test for NGU is negative, I suspect this may be a contributor to your symptoms.
Hope this helps. Please don't worry about HSV. My guess is that you will find that you do not have an STD. EWH
