From chlamydia to yeast... what next...

Hi:

I am a 33 year old gay male.  At the end of September I caught chlamydia.  A visit to a clinic and 7 days of doxycycline later I thought all was well.  A few days to a week after the doxy, I started to develop swelling at the end of the penis around the urethra.  This was different than weeks earlier as there was no discharge and itching/burning was not constant.  A trip to my Dr who felt that I now had a yeast infection.  Dr suggested using canesten which I did for basically two weeks.  The canesten did nothing.  Dr prescribes azythiromycin at my insistence convinced that the chlamydia was not killed off.  No sucess.  Another visit to the Dr, some more fun swabs, and a prescription for terazol-3.  I have been using this Terazol cream for over two weeks now with little to no success.  Another call to the Dr and instead of prescribing something like diflucan, I get a referral to a urologist - so I have a 2 month wait?!?

I asked about diflucan but Dr refused expressing it can cause liver damage.  The pharmacist who filled the Terazol prescription told me it wouldn't work and I needed to get diflucan.  Very frustrated here, and to be honest I don't feel like having a swollen penis for another two months.  Is there anything else you would suggest?  Is this diflucan fear on my Dr's part warranted?
