I RECENTLY FOUND OUT TWO DAYS AGO THAT I MAY HAVE GENITAL WARTS. I DIDNT KNOW HOW TO ACT ON THIS TYPE OF SITUATION SO I JUST CRIED. I TOLD MY GIRLFRIEND AND SHE DUMPED ME. AND WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IS GENITAL WARTS CURABLE? AND DO U THINK SHE WILL EVER FORGIVE ME IF SHE HAS WARTS NOW TO BECAUSE OF ME... SHE PRETTY MUCH FELT LIKE I PUT HER LIFE AND DANGER AND I HAVE NO RESPECT FOR HER OR HER SON. SO SHE BROKE UP WITH ME SHE SAID SHE WOULD BE MY FRIEND BUT THEN SHE SAID SHE COULD NEVER FORGIVE. I FEEL REALLY BAD WHAT SHOULD I DO.... I THOUGHT SHE WOULD WORK THIS OUT WITH ME BUT SHE SAID SHE WOULD NEVER B ABLE TO LOOK AT ME THE SAME..........

This is probably the wrong forum to ask this. Try the STD forum.

Your girlfriend probably overreacted because she does not know much about genital warts or HPV for that matter.  There are treatments that will get help get rid of the visible warts, but not cure the virus that causes them - HPV.  Most of the time, your immune system will "clear" HPV in about 6-12 months and you will no longer be infectious (sometimes longer).  Genital warts are usually caused by HPV strains 6 and 11, which are "low risk" and will probably never cause any other complications.  It's also impossible to tell if you infected your girlfriend or she infected you - it's pointless to even try to figure out.  Most sexually active people will get an HPV infection at some point in their lives, and most have no serious health consequences.  If you and your ex-girlfriend are considering getting back together, you should both do some research on HPV or talk to an STD-knowledgeable provider.
Good luck,
Em
