Going out of my mind - STD Related

Dear Sirs

I do not remember the last time I had a good night's sleep. This all started around mid June 2013.

I had an encounter with a CSW while on holiday in London, she performed unprotected oral sex on me.
I returned to Dubai a few days later, and had another CSW encounter again only unprotected oral sex. No vaginal/anal sex whatsoever. I also had 2 rigorous Handjobs.

About 3 days after that, I noticed very slight yellow discharge from my penis with no odour. It was very slight, hardly a drop or two but definitely yellow. But I noticed my penis didn't feel quite right. A bit tingly, I've felt that way before when I used to masturbate frequently and my penis would feel a bit sore but never had discharge.

Thinking it could be Gonorrhea, Chlamydia or NGU, I went to see a doctor and he prescribed me with 250mg Ceftriaxone injection, and 1000mg Azithromycin in a single dose. The symptoms persisted for about a week and then went away. During this time however, I was a nervous wreck and of course did a lot of internet research. I decided to get an additional 500mg Ceftriaxone injection, and took 1000mg Azithromycin per day for 3 days. Just to be on the safe side.

Unknowingly, I may have passed on whatever I had to my girlfriend because she came down with some strange symptoms at the same time, including nausea, headache and abdominal pain. No discharge though.

I made sure that she also was given 500mg of Ceftriaxone Injection, and took Azithromycin for 3 days (1000mg, 500mg, 500mg).

I have been a nervous wreck contemplating the idea that I may have also contracted something more serious at the same time, Herpes, HPV, Hep B/C, Syphilis, HIV etc and may have even passed it onto my girlfriend whom I love more dearly than anything in the world

What is the risk I have contracted these other diseases? Should/Would I have had other symptoms by now?

Noted; see above.  Syphilis isn't an issue given the antibiotics you have received, and the others are extremely low risk (HIV zero risk) for these exposures.

Welcome to the forum.

It seems clear you acquired urethritis from one of the unprotected oral sex events.  I can't judge well whether it was gonorrhea or NGU (but probably not chlamydia, which is uncommonly transmitted by oral sex).  You were treated appropriately with ceftriaxone and azithromycin, in the correct doses, and your symptoms cleared up.  You did not need the additional doses of either antibiotic, but probably it didn't hurt anything.

If you had sex with your regular partner after either of the exposures above, but before treatment, you could indeed have infected her.  But her symptoms have absolutely nothing to do with it -- no STD, and certainly not gonorrhea or NGU, causes symptoms like hers.  It was correct to treat her, but she didn't need more than 250 mg ceftriaxone and a single 1000 mg dose of azithromycin.

The chance of any of the other STDs you mention is very low from only two oral sex events, and syphilis would be effectively prevented by both the ceftriaxone and azithromycin.  At this point, my advice is to stop all additional treatment, do not have any more tests, and continue your relationship with your girlfriend without worry.  All is well and no harm is going to come to you or her.

I hope this has been helpful.  Best wishes--  HHH, MD

Sorry I should also add that, I do not appear to have any lesions, bumps or other marks. It basically looks the same down there as it always has. I also have Tinea Curias (Jock Itch) but I've had that for about a year and never bothered curing it until now.

I need to know if I'm worrying over nothing.

In other words, If I did contract an NGU, or Gonorrhea or Chlamydia or all three in one or both of those encounters....am I at high risk for also having contracted HIV/Herpes/Syphilis/Others?
