One of the prime side effects of Zithromax is diarrhea. It's unusual for it to be as bad as you have it, but certainly it does happen. And are you sure you're not allergic to penicillin? I assume you're not because you might have had an even worse reaction if you were. That was not really a great antibiotic to use in this case unfortunately.
It is possible you had another type of bacteria, but Zithromax would cure that in most cases as well.
Make sure you're drinking enough fluids, don't let yourself be dehydrated. Since your symptoms seem to be resolving, I'd probably sit tight and see where you are in the next few days. It can take a while for the burning and pain to go away.
I'm not allergic to anything that I know of. I forgot to mention that I also have a tingling sensation on the tip of my penis from time to time. I wil just sit tight and see what happens...
Update: Its been days since my post. I have swollen lymph nodes in my neck right now. Diarrhea is gone, but I still have a strange tingling feeling in the tip of my penis every so often.
