Gonorrhea treatment and persistent symptoms

I was treated for gonorrhea 7 days ago with a 250mg injection of ceftriaxone. I was also prescribed 1000mg of zithromax for a possible chlamydia infection, although I was never told I had chlamydia. Nevertheless, I am still experience gonorrhea symptoms. I never had discharge of any sort. But I am urinating frequently, have a slight burning sensation when I urinate, and have pain in my testicles. Is it possible that my gonorrhea was never treated? Should I test again? I did some research and found that ceftriaxone is very useful in treating gonorrhea. I acquired gonorrhea in tijuana, mexico. If interested in reading how, search for my post from a week ago.

Also, I have a girlfriend but have had no sexual encounter with her since my exposure. If I get treated, does she also need to get treated? As I said, I've had no sexual encounter with her since exposure other than kissing (and I kissed her 4 days after starting my medication)

Yes, it can make it harder to treat.  What bacteria are they finding, and have they done a sensitivity test to see what meds will cure it?

Hi , i thought i was dying alone in this matter.I have had almost the same problem like you Tommy. But with mind, i have taken some of the best anti biotics but still the symptoms still keep coming up. Worst of all, i get the pus resurface again. After taking the last regime, i did the test which still proved there was something wrong. However, before i got the bacteria, i was already diagnosed with prostate problems. Could it be that the treatment its difficult because of the prostate problem?. i have been struggling with this for the past 6 months with no luck.and if the infection in the prostate can not go away why is it that that of the eyes too cannot go away. Pls does anyone have a solution out there before i die of this thing?

I was tested for gonorrhea but the results aren't out yet. They also gave me a smear test and found an infection. Possibly chlamydia. I was given 3 of the 500ml ceftriaxone on three consecutive days. They also precribed me doxycline tablets, which has to be consumed twice a day. How long does it take for the bacteria to clear up fully in my system? Is it normal for me to experience a low sex drive. I haven't been able to get a fully erected penis for awhile now, since i felt discomfort while i urinate. Is this normal? I'm pretty worried about it.

Some of the symptoms of the infection you have coupled with the FEAR of HIV will make you think that you have HIV. After the doc gives you a stearn speach about how you were cured with the meds(which you werent) you turn to "what could this that im feelinng be" syndrome.

#1 always remember how the antibiotics made you feel thats how you supposed to feel all of the time. Some antibiotic treatments surpress the infection and dont get rid of it so it comes back.

Get more meds and try try again.
im still tring im on ofloxacix now and I feel great, when my meds run out ILL just have to cross my fingers and prey that it doesnt come back. Im worried too friend.

Hey soul, thanks for the reply.

While I took my medication, which was a one day treatment with heavy doses, my symptoms went away, but then they came back. 13 days after I took my medication, they did seem to disappear however. When I went to the doctor around the 8th day after i took my medication, he said there was no point in retesting for gonorrhea, b/c the dose he gave me would've killed it. He said that the symptoms are all in my head.

My biggest concern now is HIV

You are the only one that knows how you feel so dont listen to anyone even the doctors, cause doctors are humans and all humans make mistakes. I have had the same problem you have been having for about 2 years now I was tested positive for NGU given meds but it always came back. Does your symtoms also go away while your on the meds?

1) Gonorrhea is a bacteria, not a virus. It actually can survive outside the body and I'm sick of everyone telling me that I might have gotten it from my g/f when I KNOW for a FACT that I got it from the stripper.

2) My g/f tested negative 2 months ago for STDs. Also, we ALWAYS use condoms. So I either got gonorrhea from the stripper, or my body produced it on its own. I'm going to go with the stripper.

This is why I'm worried, b/c everyone including Dr. HHH kep telling me not to worry about HIV or STDs, even though I got it. And now no one believes me that this is how I got gonorrhea. What if I get HIV through my contact? Everyone keeps telling me it's impossible, however apparently the impossible happened when I got gonorrhea.

Yes what Doctor H said about gonnorhea is very reliable.  The body eventually fights & kills the virus if left untreated.  But it's really not a good idea b/c it could lead to other problems such as infertility.  The virus dies once outside the body. I mean they are called std's because you have to have sex to get it.  Really,  think about it, your penile hole is so small.  I doubt her hands can transmit her fluids in to that hole. Why are you not considering your girlfriend as the source of your infection?  You SLEEP with her.  You didn't sleep with the stripper.

Ok first of all, you should be in the clear for your gonnorhea.  The antibiotics were enough.  Symptoms can continue a few days/a week after treatment.  Secondly, are you SURE you even had a positive gonnorhea result?  Did you actually see the result?  I'm leaning on three possibilities here.  A) You had a false positive gonnorhea test.  (Your symptoms don't really suggest an std) B)  The doctor only SUSPECTED gonnorhea & treated you for that and chlamydia or C.) You had gonnorhea, but this stripper is ABSOLUTELY NOT the source of your infection.

Regardless, you should be in the clear of all bacterial stds now.  If your symptoms continue to persist, you may want to see a urologist.

Hey sparkeler, thanks for the response. Doctor said I had gonorrhea b/c he did a swab of my urethra and i'm assuming he did a culture. He said it tested positive for gonorrhea. I got treated 8 days ago but am still feeling symptoms: specifically pain in my testicles and slight burning sensation when I urinate.

As far as the stripper, why are you saying it's impossible? Did you not read the paragraph I posted and how it's possible to get gonorrhea if you masturbate with vaginal secretions? I'm not trying to prove that it's possible, I'm only trying to understand why everyone keeps telling me it's impossible when there's literature that says it's not.

Also, I found a reply by Dr. HHH that said that gonorrhea clears up, even if left untreated, within a couple of weeks. Is this accurate? I've never heard of such a thing.

I forgot to add that I found a site today which states that gonorrhea can be transmitted through the incident that I underwent. I know a lot of you said that there's no way I could have gotten gonorrhea through the stripper touching her vagina and then rubbing my urethra, but this article says otherwise. I've pasted it for whoever wants to read it.

Specifically it says: "Penetration or ejaculation is not necessary for gonorrhea to be transmitted. Close contact, like touching before condom use, or masturbation with the sexual fluids of an infected person can transmit the bacteria from one person to another." (http://www.stdresource.com/disease/index.php?page=edit&id=1&action=viewfull)

I'm praying that I did not get HIV through this contact. What are your thoughts on other STDs? herpes, syphilis, hepatitis B? Thte only symptoms i've had thus far are those associated with gonorrhea, and like I said, i feel like they haven't gone away.
