Gonorrhea?

Hello,

I know this is not the best way to handle my situation (I should go to the doc) but , well, lets just say its not really an option.

I had unprotected sex with a woman, little over a week ago. Last couple days I noticed some clear maybe a little white discharge coming from the tip of my penis. I have read so much and I think its either gonorrhea or chlamydia. I am NOT having burning sensation (maybe a little rarely if I squeeze). I ordered Zithromax and am planning on taking 2g's and hope to have it cleared up. I do have someone in my life, i have not had sex with her since. I am hoping to take the med and hope that it goes away. If not, then ill be going to the doc. Question is, if its just  chlamydia, I know that 2g is more than enough, but if it is gonorrhea, is 2g enough? Also, since I do not have mych burning, at least not yet, we'll see in the next few days, and lets say its neither gonorrhea nor chlamydia and I take that med, will it harm me? thanks so much in advance. I hope its as simple as that, get it over with and move on.

Good point. I'm just ... i guess embarrassed and would rather just take those pills and hope for the best. I'm not planning on even touching her until I know its gone. I guess the plan is to see if the magic pill works, if not, I'll just be going to my doc.

Plus to kind of add to my original post, I had chlamydia long time ago (I know, I know, I'm a ***** I guess) and had real bad burning. I went to the doc and the doc said it was chlamydia. That is why initially I thought this is more of gonorrhea since I did not have much burning. However, last night, I had some pretty bad burning. So who knows, I'm hoping its chlamydia again. Would taking the zithromax and a preferred gonorrhea med at the same time (or a day apart) be ok to do?

You could have tried your local health department.  And they could have told you where there is a free std clinic near you if they couldn't treat you.  The problem with self-medicating is if you do not take the correct antibiotic, the infection may not be cured properly.  Then you may end up with a more resistant bacteria.  This is why testing is important. The preferred treatment for gonorrhea is not zithromax.  Also, if you do not cure it, then you would definitely end up giving it to your girlfriend if you continue to have unprotected sex with her.
