Gonorrhea

by kim96, Jan 18, 2008 09:11PM
Sorry I want to edit my question. I have been with one partner for the past 3 yrs and haven't had any symptoms of any STD's. Recently my 3yr relationship ended in November and I reunited with a friend of mine.  After me and my new sex partner had sex only once I started to get a tingle sensation while urinating. Now I'm experiencing a yellow discharge. My STD test came back positive for Gonorrhea. Prior to that my doctor said I had BV. I have had BV before and know the symptoms. My ex-boyfriend for 3yrs stated he has never cheated on me during our relationship and during our relationship I have taken STD's test that have come back negative. However I did have an abnormal pap and was diagnosed with HPV. My friend that I recently had sex with once said that he has never had sex with anyone else without a condom. However we do have a sexual past together and he is uncircumcised. In our past relationship I would get a yeast infection on a regular basis only during my relationship with him. I need to know if I should contact and notify my ex-boyfriend.

1. How do I know who gave it to me?

2.  Did I have Gonorrhea all along and the BV trigger the gonorrhea symptoms after having sex with my new partner?

3. Did I get it from my new partner because I had symptoms so soon after intercourse (2-3 days)?

1) Doesn't sound like you can, but the new partner seems more likely.  I'd still tell your old one just in case, if it were me.  I like to error on the side of safety.

2) Probably not.  BV and Gonorrhea can have similar symptoms and so your doctor saying you had BV was probably because of your symptoms.  You doctor hadn't actually run a test which came back positive for BV, correct?  I'm going to guess no.

3)  Probably, that's about the right time frame for Gonorrhea to show symptoms.
