HIV suspicion

HIV suspicion

I'm a 32 year old male. I visited Thailand in 2000. As you can guess I visited some sex workers during my visits. I've had sex with 5 women, all vaginal intercourse were protected. However, with 2 of them I've had unprotected oral sex.(I was the insertive side). After I came home, after a certain time (I guess about 2-3 weeks), I had some flu and I had some abnormalities on my neck. I went to a Doc, he diagnosed it as eczema. He advised me to change my shaving foam, after shave or parfume and gave me some medicine. I changed my shaving foam and it healed in a short time. But what's strange was I had been used the same foam for about 2 years then. Since then, my skin is still sensitive for some materials.
Can it be all coincidence that all these oddities happened after that trip? I didn't know the symptoms of HIV that time so I wasn't worried. Now when I read about them, I am really worried, so scared I even can not go to get tested.

Do you think my chances of having HIV is high? am i in high risk? I can't help myself being in panic and can not be calmed down.

Your odds of winning a lottery are greater than the chance of catching HIV from 2 episodes of insertive oral sex.  And yes, of course it can be coincidence that you have symptoms after that trip.  And anyway your symptoms don't sound like HIV.

Assuming you are not otherwise at high risk (gay man, injection drug user, etc), you almost certainly don't have HIV.  Go get tested; negative result will make you sleep better.

Good luck--   HHH, MD
