HPV AS A 21 YEAR OLD

by LUCYLUVV, Jun 18, 2007 12:00AM
As a 21 year old, i've recently caught HPV and was only sexually active with 2 people in my life. I want to know if this will ever go away, knowing that i am young and have a strong immune system. Also, i recently noticed small warts and getting treated for them. Even though i've been getting the warts, is there a chance that the HPV will go away?

Generally speaking, it's thought that after 6 months to a year without symptoms, you can consider them cleared. In the meantime, you can feel better knowing HPV is pretty ubiquitous--just about everyone with more than a couple of partners will contract at least one strain. You're in good company :-)

yes, your body will clear the infection out within a few months.  The type of hpv that causes warts is called low-risk hpv and it's extremely common.

At 18 I broke up with my boyfriend of two years whom I had only had sex with twice and began dating a 23 year old man who gave me HPV the first time we had sex.  I married and divorced him after that but I spent years not having a romantic life or dating really bad men because I felt I was damaged goods.  I even used drugs to ease the pain.  My third partner who I became engaged to gave me herpes.  So forgiving my self now I figure a lot of people were unlucky like me and the only way to be safe is to abstain because condoms don't always work because of genital skin to skin contact.

You should post in the herpes forum for some good info and support.  See above for a link.
