HPV and No Abnormal Paps

tc2
I was diagnosed with Genital Warts 11 years ago.  They were freezed off and I have never had another occurrence or any abnormal paps.  I am a little confused because some websites on HPV claim that the virus that causes Genital Warts is low risk and some claim that you can fight the virus off.  However, others state that the virus is always in your body.  I was married for 7 years, had two children, and my ex and I never had any issues with warts.  Now I am starting to date again and want to know the correct information should I meet someone I would like to become involved with. Is it possible that I could still have the virus and what is the best way to find out what strain I have or do I have anything?

Please advise!

Dr.

Im very sorry, I just need to realize that my warts/hpv infection have probably cleared and not worry about it so much because in the whole scheme of things hpv is not a huge deal, all of us will have deal with this at some time or another in our lives.  once again, sorry for inaapropriate remarks.

Thank you so much for answering.  I can't tell you how humiliated I have felt when I have thought about having to tell someone that this happened to me.

Thanks again!

Freezing warts usually leaves no scar--or very slight ones that fade within a few months.

I deleted questions by unsername guy1207 as irrelevant.  How rapidly a particular person's warts clear up and whether s/he transmitted them to another person is useless information for you, because any particular person's experience might be atypical.  Take that sort of discussion to some othter website.

These identical questions have been asked and answered repeatedly on this forum.  Please read the threads and archives.  You can start with the thread titled 'HPV Information' by username BLABLA% just 4 days ago (Feb. 8).  Also see the thread 'worred about' by username pita4, earlier today.

The bottom line is that you can be confident your warts will not reappear and will not be transmitted to a future sex partner.

There is no test to reliably tell whether a person is carrying an asymptomatic HPV infection.

Bottom line:  HPV isn't worth the time and worry you are putting into it. Just go on with life.  There is no reason to raise your distant past warts problem with any future sex partners.
