HPV and oral sex

The HPV oral connection has been concerning me lately. My husband and I have been together for over 13 years. My last 9 pap smears have all been normal.(I did have dysplasia/abnormal pap about 12 years ago--it was taken care of and all have been fine since). My husband and I have been completely monogomous for over 13 years...
My worry is that I have been performing oral sex on my husband for well...13 years(he is the ONLY person I've ever given oral too ever) and since reading an article about HPV related to throat cancer, well I freaked out. My gyno. said that if pap smears are normal that no HPV should be present either(in either me or my husband, since he's only w/ me).
Do you think continuing w/ oral sex only w/ my husband should be safe in avoiding HPV provided that my pap tests continue to come back normal??

I don't see any reason why continuing this practice should be a problem.

There is no reason not to continue performing oral sex on your partner who you've been in a long term monogamous relationship in!

Most hpv infections clear themselves from the body within 2 years.  You've had completely normal paps for 12 years now - your hpv is probably gone if you even had it in the first place.  Oral cancers happen but not that often.  No reason to worry so much about it that you stop performing oral on your partner at this point. if either of you had a type of hpv that is associated with oral cancers - you contracted it long ago and it's already too late anyways.  The risk of oral cancer is low to begin with - try not to panic because of something you read - I know - easier said than done sometimes with some of the articles you read in magazines or see on tv.  Always makes you wonder - omg am I one of the few who could have this and not know it???? Heck I just convinced myself I had a gluten allergy last week at a conference just after listening to the lecture given on it...he he he  Of course I don't have one but til the lecture was over - I sure thought perhaps I could and just am not having "typical" symptoms of it.  we all do it :)
