HPV possibility - throat cancer

Well I was at first under the impression of an STD but now i've dug into something maybe a bit more serious. Around August after unprotected oral sex two days later i experienced sore throat and fatigue. Initially I was under the impression I had herpes or HIV, but digging into my gf's past I have found out she once was tested positive for HPV. Now before we became sexually engaged she mentioned in July her pap smear came back normal. I under HPV can lie dormant which is why I still have concern. I've been through two rounds of antibiotics, and my throat still doesn't feel right. It isn't sore anymore, however, every time I drink something I have to belch. I had tonsil stones at one point in time but not anymore. My throat goes through some briefs periods of feeling uncomfortable and I also noticed a slight pain in my left ear. I'm hoping that it is pure anxiety and this isn't all signs of HPV provoked throat/oral cancer. I mean she had her gardasil shots but they didn't record the strain of HPV or anything. Im assuming if it were HPV-16, 18, or any of those that can cause cancer they would have disclosed that information to her. Well we have been having oral sex regularly and im afraid the symptoms im suffering with my throat could be precancerous or possible throat cancer caused by HPV exposure. Please help. Should I be worried? I'm going to an ENT but i'm very nervous.

Thanks your reply has really made me feel more comfortable. And for the past 5 months I've been going to my PCP and Patient First neither could find anything wrong with my throat. So I am going to a ENT I just got a referral and will schedule my appointment on Monday. I will let you know how it goes. And thanks for your encouragement and concern.

Thanks for your response! I was considering getting my tonsils removed bc I assumed I had the same problem. But it is just strange and I am going to an ENT asap to get it checked out. I will let you know what happens.

absolutely no reason to think you have throat cancer or a hpv oral infection based on your symptoms.

are you following up with an ENT specialist if you've had issues this long that don't get better?

Hi and welcome, sorry your going though this and all be be ok. You did not mention if you had any tests done. We cant diagnose here but if you still have your tonsils, they do act up all the time. I had mine taken out a while back as was always having a sore throat much like you discribe.
