married 16 yrs never knew what this was, i divorced and suddenly i started haveing  a vaginal irritation it felt like a crack at the base of my vagina toward the anus , this went on for weeks , i had a hot tub i used frequently 99-104 temp so i thought the hot water was drying me out, intercourse got painful  yet it was europhoric weird sensation i then had trouble voiding it burned terrible i soaked in a cold saline sitz bath trying to cool me off and i started to see blisters i felt like i had the flu my body was fatigued my groin area was swollen my lymphnodes were tender i thought this is mono  like symptoms i finally went to my obgyn he was SHOCKED he was my gyno for 20 yrs and never seen me like this nor an outbreak of this magnatude , and i divorce and WHAMMO this severe he was speechless he said this is an outbreak and i said impossible hubby never cheated my BF  was clean upon relations so within 3 wks i have this mess whose to blame whose at fault, the BLOOD TEST said we both have HSVI  well i carry the hsv I in my nose i guess  i get pimple sores my hubby never got cold sores , my BF said his ex   wife always had  oral cold sores  his father and sister all have oral cold sores well he said he had jock itch once  and he said his ex wife was oral oriented and had cold sores on her mouth so... my gyno said if you have oral sores and perform oral sex  you can have hsv I on your privates he also said if i wipe my nose and then use that tissue when i peed i can spread this myself? well then he said the more i wipe the more my blisters spread so i had the outbreak on my vagina and anus and clitorus so and we both were STD tested and we both carry the HSVI  so when ever i stress out  or have multiple orgasm it seems to trigger an out break? why is that? i take valtrex prn have not had an outbreak in 2 yrs but the first year i had 3 each was worse then the last and thus far with oral sex neither of us picked up another outbreak so how did i end up with this mess! we have been together for 5 yrs and faithful so any clues to my outbreak? now i also showed BV suspected it was from the hot tub ? so did i have a BV INFECTION OR AN OUTBREAK OR BOTH? so i have HSVI vaginally and nasal?  enlighten me!! i'm 45

yes my gyno said HSV I and also did the BV culture and i was on antibiotic for 30 days he said i had a severe case  BV  at the same time  and i was in denial so when i had another outbreak my GP again tested it and it was HSVI  antibodys not HSVII  so i have to  have complicated symptoms not simple one, igA igI ? igE? i forget but both were proven postive past and present antibody

This is a VERY important point...

1. Did you have a culture test of the sores?
2. Did the CULTURE test say HSV1 positive OR was it just a positive blood test?

yes it was a culture he swabbed several blisters and sent it out for pathology it was most EXCRUCIATING as i recall  i was given Lidocaine gel  with 3 refills it was horrific pain and burning the test was + HSV I and the BV was also a swabb sent and came back severe BV and he said i must of had this a long time 3-5 mos and never realized it since i lived in the hot tub so i was on broadspectrum antibiotics i forget what kind as i am allergic to everything , i followed up with gyn and he said everytihg was back to normal  this was 2 yrs ago   my gp said the labs were + HSV I  i have had shingles 3 xs so my immune system is very suseptible to everything i guess, stresss i great! not

Some thoughts...

1. Are you sure that you have had HSV1 long-term? This sounds like a new infection because of the severity of the symptoms. Have you been tested for HSV1 before this happened? Are you absolutely sure that its not HSV2?

2. If it is a new infection, it would have happened within 3 weeks of the first outbreak. Maybe that will narrow it down for you.

3. If it is NOT a new infection, it could have happened at any time in the past and just shown up. This is quite possible

4. It is very rare, but it is possible to get reinfected with HSV1 genitally when you already have it orally. In this case, the infection could have occurred any time. However your outbreak sounds like a brand new infection.

My guess is that you did not have it before, but caught it from your new boyfriend. However, blaming people is pretty silly.

hi my gyno said that the first out break usually goes un noticed  it so mild in  men  they don't know that the jock itch might be a mild out break, it clears up and never new until they have  another bout that is advanced i had a guy tell me he keeps getting jock itch and he was finally dx with HSV ,  but he shaved his scotum he likes smooth so he thought it was razor burn so i shaved a few times and thought it was just a plugged hair and it went away  so assuming such  the stress of the divorce  brought on another outbreak? or was startin my life over and getting HSV my just dessert  well its like do you ask your ex spouse hey did you cheat on me  or did you forget to tell me you had oral sex with a stranger? cause oral sex isnt' sex right ? haha well  just wonder how my problem started my bf was a virgin when he got married the first time and she had the oral cold sores and was not a virgin so is that how it all started? she performed with cold sores and he got it with a mild jock itch? they divorced after 2 yrs and he just thought it was jock itch  and when we hoooked up i got  it from him with no symptoms?
now i get sore white heads in my nose i guess that was hsv? so my bf and i don't have lip sores  it was  me who got the first cracked vagina i had alot of scar tissue from my first  birth lots of issues with my first marriage it was too painful so for several years i had no activity per sae and after the divorce i started all over again so having the cracked scar tissue i thought was my life? or was it HSV i never knew?  I only had 4 partners all long term and then i married my 4th which was my 2nd hubby  and we divorced so now i live a life of uncertainty so as long as my bf and i 5 yrs in the running i can not imagine having to share this with a new flame?  i guess i'll be a NUN now and nun later if this bf goes  off  reaping and sowing  casue the idea of graduating into another STD or more scares me  the world is so crazy  anything goes and i want off  the merry go round, the nuns have it !

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about.  Even if you had a long-standing oral hsv1 infection, if your partner performed oral sex on you when he had a cold sore, you would be exposed to a high viral level, so that your antibodies might not have been able to fight it off, and now you have it genitally.

BV can be awful to try and get rid of, and I would avoid the hot tub for awhile, as bacteria love warm damp places, and a hot tub is certainly that.

Other than that, I'm not sure what your question is.

HSV1 is not an STD. It can be transmitted sexually. However most of the time it passes by kissing during childhood.
