The answer to your first question is yes. HSV-1 does not turn into HSV-2. They are different visuses, though related significantly at the genetic level.
Becareful in what you are asking in your second question, because the answer is it can lay dormant forever. Meaning that one could have an outbreak and never again have one.
It takes at most --- anyone has seen 6 months for HSV2 to be detected.
So if the other person has HSV1, they cannot by simple oral sex give me HSV2 right? She tested positive for HSV1 but negative for HSV2. How long can HSV2 lay dormant in your body?
Hi.
To get HSV-2 you have to have sex (genital gential contact) from someone who is infected with HSV-2.
If a person has HSV-2 (gential herpes) you cannot get HSV-2 from them performing oral sex on you.
