HSV1 & HSV2 IGG & IGM Test

please inform if a test after 60 days of exposure will be helpful?????

Oops...my bad. I completely screwed that up and switched the IGG and IGM tests.

What I meant was do NOT take an IGM test. THe IGG test is highly reliable after 3 months. Sorry about the confusion.

Didn't you mean don't take an IgM Test?  I think the doctor would agree with that for sure, but not with the "Don't take an IgG test".

Whatever you do, do NOT take an IGG test...they are useless and a waste of money, and the doctor will agree with me. Most people infected with HSV2 will develop antibodies by 6 weeks that can be detected by the IGM test. However, even if you test negative via IGM at 60 days, you will need to retest after 90 days for a conclusive result. If you haven't had any symptoms, the chances that you are negative are higher.

Also, if you already have HSV1 and are concerned about HSV2, antibodies may take a little longer. Get tested after 90 days and don't bother testing before that.
