HSV1 UNSURE

by average_joe, Nov 13, 2007 11:49AM
would like to know how possible it is for a person to contract genital to genital HSV1 if that person has already had HSV1 orally (coldsores on lips). Is there a high risk of contracting it again at the end of the body?

What kind if symptoms would it cause and how contagious would it be genitally ?

Also can genital HSV1 travel in semen ?

Having hsv1 orally gives you significant protection against contracting hsv1 genitally later on. It's not 100% but it's pretty darn good. Of course always use common sense - if your partner has hsv1 genitally - whenever they have obvious genital symptoms avoid sex.

does that mean that HSV1 can transmit in semen also ?

can genital HSV1 become dangerous. I have never had an outbreak or seen anything genitally, though the symtoms of fever, headches, sore throat and mouth i have had. but i dont know if this would be herpes for certain and have came accross it genitally ?

Everyone on this board has had a fever, headache and sore throat probably at least once in the past year. Why would you assume that means herpes???

Herpes can be transmitted thru semen but skin to skin contact is the most effective way to transmit it.

No to otherwise healthy adults - neither oral or genital herpes is likely to become dangerous - for the most part they are just a nuisance.

Why all the herpes concerns?  If you have a history of cold sores - you aren't likely to get hsv1 genitally later on.

Was only becasue my most recent partner had similar symptoms to what i had. aprox 2 weeks after we first slept together she was saying she was not feeling well. She was checked at clinic during symptoms and they say nothing is wrong.
when i wasnt well it was my throat and inside my mouth (tender gums), though i didnt relate it it to anything.
I have been checked for HSV type specific now - and it was HSV1 (which i know i have had as teenager)
have since spoke to 3 previouse partners all of which are in relationships and say they have never had anything wrong ?
my partner and I have never had any kind of outbreak genitally at all. can this possibly be Genital HSV1 though ?

I think you are making a lot more than you should out of a simple viral infection that you are both sharing.

Neither of you have had genital symptoms - why would you even think genital herpes?

the things i have read over recent weeks seems make me think herpes .
from contacting my previous partners who say they have never had anything and although me or my partner have never had any kind of outbreak.
Does this sound like GENITAL herpes ? ??
It terrifies me immensely incase i have done something to my partner .
