HSV1 question

I know you are busy and we all appreciate your time, so I'll thy and keep this short. I have adult acne, so I get outbreaks on my face. However, I got a pimple or something next to my lip (lower left). It feels like the other pimples on my face, but it worries me since it is next to my lip.

I had a Herpeselect IGg blood test for HSV 1 and HSV 2 last year (4 months and 6 months pass possible exposure), and both test came up negative.

Sorry, after thinking about it, I have decided not to look (any more) at photos uploaded by persons with their questions.  It is too tempting to say "you have x" or "you don't have y"--i.e., practicing medicine from a distance.  Also, in today's world--viruses etc--you can understand why I am reluctant to download application files from people I don't know.

Anyway, no matter what the photos look like, the HerpeSelect results prove you do not have infection with either HSV-1 or HSV-2.  To learn the cause, see a health care provider; don't try to rely on long-distance diagnosis.

I'm sorry, I have one more question. I read a posting from Dr. Rockoff, and he stated that hsv1 rarely affect the corner of the lip. Is this accurate? I'm asking becuase my 7yr old son had a little irriation in the corner of his lip and it looked like it got sore, and now there is a little sca. I did some reseach, and it looks like it could be angular stomatitis. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks again.

I wish I could thank you with a nice dinner at Daniel's Broiler (my favorite spot when I'm in Seattle)!!

My expertise is more in genital than oral herpes.  At that level of detail, I defer to Dr. Rockoff.
