HSV2 from fallatio ?

by tm4211, Jun 11, 2008 04:19PM
I have been with one woman since 1991 until 12 days ago. The women was a prostitute. She gave me oral without a condom.

Two days later a had signs of Gonorrhea (without yelo discharge). Pain in the testicles and in the urethra. I took 3gms of Augmentin, never cleared. So I went on line to find out herpes symtoms (similar). I have no lesions.

Having the symptoms and avoiding sex I went for a full STD test, all negative except herpes 2 (still waiting on Herpes 1). I thought I had Herpes 1 because I get an occasional cold sore (not tested until now), I also thought that tests can't differentiate which herpes virus until at least 6 weeks of exposure. I also thought it is very rare to get HSV2 from receiving fallatio.

Is it possible to get HSV2 from fallatio and how accurate is the test 12 days into exposure?

Type specific IgG tests, such as HerpeSelect, can differentiate between HSV-1 and HSV-2.  You almost certainly did not get HSV-2 from this encounter.  You probably were infected before this and did not know it.  Getting HSV-2 from oral sex is rare.  HSV-1 can be transmitted in this way, but usually only if the person has a visible cold sore.  Twelve days past exposure is probably not enough time for the test to become positive anyway.  If you had acquired HSV from this, your test probably still would have been negative.  It can take up to four months for a positive test.

Do you know what type of test you had done and what the numerical result was?

Best,

Hi there -

Your urine tests might not be accurate since you took the augmentin.  You need to wait at least 2 weeks from the last pill and test again.

Gonorrhea, chlamydia, and NGU will all show up in a week.

Syphilis can take a month to 6 weeks (though some will test positive sooner).

Herpes can take up to 4 months, though many will test positive sooner.

HIV can take up to 3 months.

Pain in the testicles and urethra can be many things, but if all you had was oral sex, then it would be gonorrhea or NGU.  It could also be a prostate infection.
