Help!! Gonorrhea / Chlamydia symptoms AFTER antibiotics

Please help me!

I had unprotected oral sex (both ways) last Friday. I freaked out because I'm in a relationship and was unfaithful so that evening I took a dose of Zithromax (I had access without prescription). It was only precautionary of course, I had no symptoms that day.

Fast forward to two days ago and it burns when I pee. No other symptoms. I haven't had any kind of sex in the meantime. This sensation is still present now.

I've heard about Gonorrhea strains becoming resistant to antibiotics, could this be the case?

Can you Treat these infections during the incubation phase? I'm not sure it worked this time if so.

Could this be a coincidence (unlikely I know) or could this be a side effect of the drug?

Many thanks,
Dave

I noticed that you had a similar issue mid april. Was this another affair or the same one your referring to here?

Hi Dave, men cannot contract chlymdia from oral sex as its not known to survive in someones mouth and pretty much the same with gono, its not really some oral but there have been cases where gono has been passed that way however if its gono you would have a big time puss discharge along with the burning while urinating that occur about a week later.
That leaves us with a simple UTI as bacteria in saliva is not common in the urethra but even with this there should be some puss discharge.

For your girlfriends protection see a clinic and get tested for Gono, syphilis and herpes before being intimate with her. This is for her protection.

Thanks Dave,

I appreciate you taking the time out to respond. Just a couple of things you might be able to expand on:

It definitely burns when i pee but no discharge. The tip of my penis does look a little inflamed though. I have read that chlamydia and gono are often symptomless so are you sure I'd be having major discharge if gono was present?

Secondly, I took a dose of Zithromax the night of the encounter. I expected that this would deal with any infection before it had a chance to take hold. What are the realistic chances that 1) I contracted anything through purely oral AND 2) the antibiotics didn't work? Seems slim but the fact is it hurts when I pee, there's no getting around it.

As for your second comment. All I can say is that it's been a deeply regrettable month.

Thanks in advance for any further guidance you can offer.
Hi there,
Dave provided you with an answer about the chances of contracting anything via oral sex - please see his original answer.

Taking unprescribed antibiotics can confuse the picture when you get a culture, so self-medicating is never a good idea.

It doesn't matter if you were in the "incubation period", or whether you have something resistant to zithromax.  Regardless of the reason, you're having pain on urination and the cause won't be known until you see a doctor for a diagnosis.  So, see a doctor, and be sure to tell the doctor that you took the antibiotic so that they can account for it when testing.  And in the interest of protecting your partners (and yourself) don't have sex with anyone in the meantime.

Since your questions about this have been answered in a couple of threads, and further guessing/speculation won't be helpful, we'll close this discussion now.
