Help Please---Big Mistake

I was on a business trip in South America and had protected sex with a few sex workers.  They also gave me fellatio unprtected for quite a while.  I freaked out the next day and took 1g of Zithromax just to be safe.  I never had any syptoms..and still dont.

Well, I had sex with my wife a few days later and about 5 days later, she developed a horrible yeast infection.  She got a little better, then we had sex 2 nights ago and now its returned.

She has been on Doxyclycline 100mg for 11 days, and she still feels very uncomfortable.  itching mostly.
She called the doctor and he told her to come in.

I am freaking out that I gave her something.  Is it possible?  I still dont have symptoms and she has been on Doxyclycline for 11 days. !!!

What could it be???

I realize the you took the azithromycin but she took the doxycycline, as I read your post. This common leads to yeast infections. EWH

just to be clear...I took the azithromycin not her.  Can I give her the yeast infection from taking it?  It was unclear from your answer

Welcome to the Forum. Your risk for any STD from receipt of oral sex is low and having taken azithromycin would have likely prevented any infection you might have been exposed to.  Your wife's yeast infection is not a manifestation of an STD, just a combination of bad luck and the fact that taking medications like azithromycin increases the risk for getting a yeast infection.

I would not worry.,  EWH
