Helpful HPV Q's

I have genital warts...
1.) Will I always be contagious? Eventually, will my immune system really clear it from me so I am not contagious?
2.) Will Gardasil protect my girlfriend on our first sexual experience, and there after?
3.) Will Gardasil protect her from contracting oral warts during oral sex?
4.) Will I ever experience the joys of unprotected sex without the fears of spreading the virus to my future wife?

Thank-you, I am greatly appreciative.

Welcome to our Forum. I see you have asked the same questions on the HPV Communtiy site.  I expect that the answers I give will be similar to those that you have already received.

1.) Will I always be contagious? Eventually, will my immune system really clear it from me so I am not contagious?

Even without treatment for your wart, the infection would go away in nearly everyone over time. This can take up to 18-24 months and in some peole takes even longer. Treatment accelerates this.  When the wart goes away, with or without therapy, if it stays away for 3 months, you should not be infectious for sexual partners.

2.) Will Gardasil protect my girlfriend on our first sexual experience, and there after?

The HPV vaccine is highly protective and after the full, 3 injection series of shots, protection against the 4 types of HPV in the vaccine, which are the most common types of HPV, is 99%.  99% is not 100% but is about as close as is reasonable to consider.  In science, health and disease there  are no absolutes.

3.) Will Gardasil protect her from contracting oral warts during oral sex?

Probably. Oral HPV is rare as these infections do not occur commonly and the studies or oral effectiveness are underway but it is logical to think that the vaccine would protect against oral as well as genital HPV.

4.) Will I ever experience the joys of unprotected sex without the fears of spreading the virus to my future wife?
See above. Yes.

You may want to seek additonal information. there is excellent information available at the web site of the American Social Helath Association. Check it out.

I hope these comments help. EWH

There is no reason for you to worry about oral HPV.  Your concerns about oral HPV are not warranted.  EWH

Should I be afraid of having oral hpv? I don't get warts in my mouth so how do I know I have it or not. I love my gf and I'm afraid to kiss her... Am I being ridiculous?

Thanx again.
