Hepatitis C scare

Hi.  Like I most I was very drunk and was hanging out with an escort in Las Vegas.  While I was smart enough to not do anything in risky sexual behavior at all, I did share a pipe with her to get high.  I am nervous that this is a risk to transmitting Hepititis C it appears.  I only shared it a few times, but I am wondering how nervous I should be.  Right now I am scared to death and so upset.  Please let me know how risky this is.  I see it is a way of transmitting but it does not say anywhere about how many people will get it from doing this. I talked to her the next day and she said she has no diseases but this many people dont know about I guess when they have it.

Thanks for all your help.

Your follow-up question in a new thread (deleted) said "Thanks for response.  I don't think she does IV drugs.  But I am worried if she had it some of the blood in her mouth it could have been transferred to me.  She does smoke meth.  How easy of a way is this for tranmission?  Thanks so much.  I am beyond worried."

Hepatitis B also is rarely if ever transmitted by oral contact.  "Beyond worried" is an inappropriate reaction to this situation.

This forum is limited to STDs.  HCV is not an STD at all, except very rarely; and in any case your concern is for an oral exposore, not sexual.  But trust me on this:  you are not at significant risk for hepatitis from the events described.  The only likely infection in such situations are respiratory infections like colds, flu, etc.

That will be all for this thread.

Welcome to the forum.

HCV is not transmitted by saliva contact.  That is, I disagree with your statement that this is a way of transmitting the virus.  It is not.  (It also is not sexually transmitted, except apparently in gay men who participate in traumatic, bloody rectal sexual practices.)  Even if your escort friend has HCV (which is unlikely if she isn't an IV drug user), you could not have caught it by sharing a pipe.

So don't worry about hepatitis C on account of this event.  You don't need testing.
